Press release

April 4, 2005

Banking Production Centre (BPC), recognized provider of EFT and e-business solutions, and Fujitsu Siemens Computers, leading European IT vendor of business critical computing products, have successfully completed SmartVista processing solution tests on PRIMEPOWER server platform. The tests were conducted at Fujitsu Siemens Computers Russia and CIS representative office laboratory. As a result, an attractive price / performance solution for bank processing infrastructure has been formed.

SmartVista was tested on PRIMEPOWER eXtended Architecture 250/450/650 models that combine high CPU performance and mainframe-like reliability. The outstanding feature of PRIMEPOWER server family is the multiprocessing architecture that provides for the highest levels of scalability and availability in the range of commercial servers available on the market. PRIMEPOWER servers use powerful SPARC64 processors and Solaris operating system, the world's leading UNIX-based platform of choice for a variety of applications.

The tests were performed on the basis of full-functional live version of SmartVista software suite comprising SmartVista Front-End switching system and SmartVista Back-Office card management system. During the study BPC's engineers simulated the full range of SmartVista functional capabilities including e-commerce operations, EMV-compliant smart card issuing and acquiring, credit card transactions. The testing procedure also involved the first installation in live environment of the new fraud prevention module — SmartVista Online Fraud Monitoring.

For the benchmark tests BPC selected PRIMEPOWER 450 server with the following technical specifications: 4 SPARC64 CPUs 1,32 GHs each, 8 GB main memory. The configuration of the server allows using Oracle Standard Edition DBMS that significantly reduces the total cost of a processing solution with SmartVista in its core while delivering the utmost performance. The results have demonstrated that PRIMEPOWER server is a compelling solution in terms of price and performance that can be used by the financial institutions of any size seeking to establish effective card business.

"It is essential for us that the hardware platform SmartVista conforms to the customer's business requirements, technical infrastructure features and the expected price level. That is why we have always been striving to provide our clients with a freedom of choice. SmartVista testing on PRIMEPOWER server family has become the next step towards broadening a range of hardware platforms. Our customers will definitely benefit from running SmartVista on high-performance servers from Fujitsu Siemens Computers that make up a solid foundation for their processing centers while saving investment", commented Sergey Krukov, Deputy Director, Sales, Client and Partner Relations, Banking Production Centre.

"Due to the scalable multiprocessing SPARC architecture UNIX-based PRIMEPOWER servers are ideally suited for use in different business and technological environments. We are confident that the testing of SmartVista processing system from BPC on PRIMEPOWER hardware platform will open new exciting opportunities for Fujitsu Siemens Computers server deployment in financial and banking area," said Lusine Martirosyan, Sales Representative, Large Enterprise Department, Representative Office of Fujitsu Siemens Computers in Russia and CIS.
