SmartVista Front-End supports the following authorisation methods:

  • positive authorisation with both the account balance and customer card/account limits checked;

  • positive authorisation with only customer card/account limits checked;

  • negative authorisation to verify that the card is not stoplisted and if the transaction number limit is not exceeded;

  • negative authorisation providing an additional check of cash withdrawal transaction limit.
The authorisation method(s) used will be identified individually for all BIN's under which the Bank issues cards and may therefore be different for debit and credit cards. In addition to the checks mentioned above, all authorisation methods include verification of PIN, card settings (expiration date, status, restrictions) and account settings (status and restrictions). For instance, the card expiration date check consists in comparing the ExpireDate value on the magnetic stripe and in the SmartVista database, and if these values do not match, the authorisation is denied.

The following is an example of the account restriction statuses that are checked:

  • no transaction restrictions;

  • cash withdrawals restricted;

  • cash withdrawals and funds transfers restricted;

  • only balance inquiries allowed;

  • only deposits allowed;

  • only balance inquiries and deposits allowed;

  • only balance inquiries, deposits and funds transfers allowed;

  • all account transactions restricted.
Based on the result of the authorisation, the SmartVista Authorisation Engine will generate a response code that will be automatically converted into a Card Network response code if the authorisation message needs to go to the Network Interface. Similarly, if a Card Network response code has been received in an Us-on-Them situation, it is automatically converted to the SmartVista standard.
