Any person ever entered in the SmartVista database is assigned a unique Person ID and held in the system as a separate entity, whether they are a Customer Contact, Cardholder, User, etc. This allows minimising duplication of records for the same people and also helps identifying people that may be entitled to special treatment, e.g. applicants who have been rejected earlier
