SmartVista Processing Rules are algorithms that define the way each particular transaction will be processed in the system, i.e. which accounts it will affect and how, depending on the following parameters:
- Settlement Type (such as Us-on-Us, Us-on-VISA, VISA-on-Us, etc.)
- Transaction Type
- Institutions (Issuer and Acquirer)
- Currencies (Issuer and Acquirer)
- Authorised (yes or no)
- Terminal Type (POS, ATM, etc.)
Some of these Rules are generic, reflecting the processing requirements imposed by Payment Schemes; others are tailored to meet the bank's unique processing requirements. Technically, the rules can be easily configured and customised even by a person without advanced programming skills, but, because it is a very sensitive area of the system, this task will originally be performed by BPC as part of installation and set-up.
